What does a Canadian Disability Benefit look like to you?

Do you have a disability? Do you have a friend or family member with a disability? Are you an ally to the Disability Community? Do you want Canada to be a place where people with Disabilities can live without poverty?

Currently in Canada, 23% of Canadians with disabilities are living in poverty. That is too many people and it’s time to do something about it.

That’s why we want your perspective on how to end poverty for people with disabilities. We want to hear your thoughts about a new Canadian Disability Benefit. This conversation is open to everyone.

Ethelo, a digital democracy platform, was used to conduct a short survey and collect stories and perspectives. 

In November 2021 we held a lively and informal dialogue to talk about and plan the steps we took together to make sure politicians took action! Together, we:

• Learned about the results of the national engagement process Ethelo hosted on the topic of a Canada Disability Benefit
• Heard first-hand about the importance of immediate action to create income security for disabled Canadians
• Participated in small group discussions and join forces with like-minded individuals who want to collaborate to make change a reality!
