Here’s all you need to know to vote in this federal election!

How To Vote

There are four ways to vote in this election:

  1. Vote on Election Day
  2. Vote at any Elections Canada Office
  3. Vote by Mail
  4. Vote on Advance Polling Days

To vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 years old on election day and prove your identity and address.

Voting Options

1. Vote on Election Day: Monday April 28

Vote at your assigned polling station on election day, Monday, April 28. Polls will be open for 12 hours (hours vary by time zone). To find your polling station, check your voter information card or use the Voter Information Service.

2. Vote at any Elections Canada Office: Available from March 23 to April 22.

There are around 500 Elections Canada offices open across the country. Vote at any one of them by April 22, 6 p.m. You will vote using the special ballot process.

They will be open seven days a week:

  • Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon to 4 p.m.

3. Vote by Mail: Deadline to apply is April 22.

How it works:

Step 1: Apply to vote by mail as soon as possible. You can apply online or by contacting any Elections Canada office across the country before April 22, 6 p.m.

Step 2: Elections Canada mails you a voting kit. When you decide on the candidate you want to vote for, write the name of the candidate on your ballot. Learn more about how to find the list of candidates in your riding and how to mark your ballot.

Step 3: Mail your completed ballot back. Your voting kit contains everything you need to return your ballot to Elections Canada, including a prepaid envelope. Follow the instructions in your kit.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to vote by mail, plan early. Deadlines apply, and you must allow enough time for your special ballot voting kit to reach you and for you to return your marked ballot to Elections Canada by election day. Also, once you have applied to vote by mail, you can't change your mind and vote at advance polls or on election day.

4. Vote on Advance Polling Days: April 18-21 for early in-person voting.

Vote at your assigned polling station from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on:

  • Friday, April 18
  • Saturday, April 19
  • Sunday, April 20, or
  • Monday, April 21

To find your advance polling station, check your voter information card or use the Voter Information Service.

Accommodations and Accessibility

Elections Canada ensures accessible voting by offering:

1. Accessible Polling Stations
